How to Replace your old AC Vent Cover and Install A Standard Linear Slot Diffuser – Anyone Can Do It!!

STEP 1: Remove Old AC Vent

First, Remove Your Old AC Vent Cover.

STEP 2: Measure Vent Hole in inches and Order based on that measurement

Second, Measure the Vent Hole and Order your new Modern AC Vent Cover using this measurement. So if you measure a 12″ x 6″ hole then order a 12×6 Standard Linear Slot Diffuser. (NOTE: Don’t measure the outside face of your old vent cover because the face is a different size than the vent hole)

STEP 3: Open Blades to Reveal PreDrilled Holes on Sides of Vent Cover

Third, You will open the blades with a flat screwdriver or plastic putty knife to find the PreDrilled holes on the sides of your New Modern AC Vent Cover – These PreDrilled holes are how you will secure your new Vent to your old Plenum Box or 2×4 piece of wood.

STEP 4: Drill Screws Through the Vent Cover’s Side Using a 6″ Drill Extension into the PreDrilled Holes

Fourth, Using a 6″ Extension on your drill you can use the 2″ screws provided to secure your New Modern AC Vent Cover to your current Plenum Box or 2×4. Now you can close the blades using a flat screwdriver or plastic putty knife. (NOTE: It’s a little counter-intuitive but when the blades are closed, the vent is open – and when the blades are open, the vent is closed.)

After opening the directional dampers (2 black blades in each slot), you will have access to the Pre-Drilled Holes on the sides of each diffuser.
