More than any other gadget, the iPod is responsible for setting Apple on the path to become the world’s most valuable tech company.

It was originally revealed back in 2001 by Steve Jobs who boasted it could fit ‘1,000 songs in your pocket’.

Now, 18 years later, an original device has surfaced on eBay for a whopping $20,000. It’s completely unopened and still sealed in its original packaging.

The listing reads: ‘I am a longtime Apple device collector, and this 5-Gigabyte iPod has been in my personal possession for almost two decades, kept in cool temperatures and away from sunlight. I guarantee that it has been completely unused and untouched inside its original packaging, along with its iconic headphones, charging accessories, and manuals.’

And if you can’t afford the $20k asking price, it seems the seller is open to offers.

The iconic gadget boasts the all-white design and famous clickwheel that let you scroll through your songs with one hand. Inside the iPod is a 5GB hard drive that was considered huge at the time. The battery life stands at up to 10 hours, thanks to the grayscale LCD screen.

Shares of Apple Inc. rose more than 6 percent April 26, 2007 soaring above $100 for the first time after reporting quarterly profits that increased 88 percent on strong sales of its iPod's and Macintosh computers. It’s not known how many of these original gadgets are left, let alone factory sealed in their original condition. As such, seeing one on eBay with this kind of price isn’t surprising. In fact, there was a similar sale of a 5GB original iPod for $20k back in 2014.

So, if you haven’t already, it may be worth checking the attic for any old gadgets you’ve got laying around up there.
