Amazon Prime Day 2020 ends in a few hours but there are still plenty of noteworthy deals left on Amazon devices, Apple products, smartphones, speakerskitchen appliances, bedding, home office furniture, vacuums, and more.

Prime Day 2020’s most popular deals, like $50 off Apple’s AirPods Pro and up to 33% off TVs from Toshiba and Insignia, will be available until the shopping event concludes tonight at 11:59 p.m. PT. We’re still rounding up the last of today’s lightning deals and any last-minute discounts that might crop up during the final hours of Amazon’s shopping event. If you picked up any bonus credits from shopping before Prime Day — you’ve got until the end of Prime Day to use them. Any unclaimed credit disappears at the end of the night.

So far, our readers have enjoyed discounts on Amazon gift cards (you’ll get a $10 credit if you spend at least $40 on gift cards), gadgets like the SodaStreamer Jet, personal care products like Crest Whitestrips, and even DNA test kits from AncestryDNA and 23AndMe.

If you didn’t have time to browse the thousands of Prime Day deals offered earlier, you can still find the best Prime Day deals under $25 here, deals on nearly two dozen holiday gift ideas, and deals with discounts of at least 50%. Some of the biggest discounts still available on day two of Prime Day include $40 off Samsung’s Galaxy Buds and $50 off Sony’s previous-generation flagship headphones.

Prime Day sales are exclusive to the more than 150 million Amazon Prime subscribers, making it one of the biggest shopping events of the year. Prime Day prices are one of the many benefits included with an Amazon Prime membership, alongside free two-day shipping, cashback at Amazon stores like Whole Foods, and exclusive movies and shows from Prime Video. Prime membership costs $13 per month ($120 per year), though a 30-day trial is available.

If the deal you’re looking for is out of stock at Amazon, other retailers, like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy are holding competing sales that match several of the best Prime Day offers. Deals outside Amazon — like Target’s Revlon One-Step hair dryer (also available on Amazon) and Nordstrom’s 60% off clothing clearance — are sometimes better than the ones on Amazon. Best Buy has already committed to keeping some of its sales in place until Black Friday next month, so don’t be too worried if you miss out on some of the best Prime Day prices.

Below, you’ll find the best deals currently available, what we’re seeing from other retailers, and everything else you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2020.

What kinds of deals will I find as Prime Day continues?

There are two types of deals you should be aware of: daily deals and Lightning deals. The former are one-day offers, usually grouped by brand or category, and change at the end of the day. The latter are limited-stock offers released throughout the day.

If you plan to spend more than $40 on Prime Day, Amazon is offering a $10 promotional credit if you purchase a $40 Amazon gift card or reload your own Amazon gift card balance with $40 or more. You’ll be able to spend that $10 credit anytime before November 29, and it’s pretty much free money.

Amazon Prime Day 2020 FAQs

Shopping during Prime Day 2020 can be a little overwhelming. To help, we’re answering all the most common questions our readers have regarding the sales event, including dates, competing sales, how to prepare, and more.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Introduced in 2015 in part to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, the first Amazon Prime Day was a one-day-only retail holiday for Prime members that sought to overtake Black Friday as the sales event of the year.

During the event, prices drop to all-time lows, often beating out prices we see over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The sale covers every product category Amazon offers: tech, beauty, home and kitchen, fashion, and smart home are just a few of the huge variety of items that will be discounted.

Last year’s Amazon Prime Day was a huge success; during the 48-hour sale event held on July 15-16, Prime members bought more than 175 million items. It was the biggest shopping day in company history until it was surpassed by Cyber Monday shortly after, a familiar pattern of record-breaking.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2020?

Amazon Prime Day began at 12 a.m. PT on Tuesday, October 13, and runs through Wednesday, October 14, as it was originally postponed due to COVID-19.

Prime Day is an annual 48-hour sale where Amazon Prime members can get deals on products such as laptops, TVs, smartphones, wearables, and more.

Prime members in the following countries can participate in the event: the US, UK, UAE, Spain, Singapore, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia, and — for the first time this year — Turkey and Brazil.

When does Amazon Prime Day 2020 end?

Amazon Prime Day 2020 will end at 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, October 14 for west coast shoppers. For the east coast, Amazon Prime Day will end at 2:59 a.m. ET on Thursday, October 15.

Was Amazon Prime Day postponed this year?

Prime Day in past years has always taken place during the summer, specifically in July. Due to recent supply-chain delays and increased demand related to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Amazon has pushed Prime Day 2020 to October 13-14.

Who can access Prime Day deals?

Only Amazon Prime members can take advantage of this event. Signing up is easy though, and a membership comes with many more benefits than just Prime Day deals access and free two-day shipping. New members can sign up for a free 30-day trial with full benefits before committing.

We’re currently in the sweet spot wherein you can sign up for the month-long free trial, shop Prime Day, and avoid paying for the subscription cost. Of course, you can also just pay for a $13 month-long subscription to shop Prime Day, if you’ve already had a Prime subscription.

Do other stores take part in Amazon Prime Day?

Walmart, Target, and Best Buy will offer sales with competitive pricing during and around the event. However, the volume and quality of these competitor deals are up in the air, as the postponement of Prime Day 2020 has left us very close to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Walmart’s “Big Save Event” leapfrogged Prime Day by starting on October 11, and it will last until Thursday, October 15 – a day longer than Prime Day itself. However, it still remains to be seen how Walmart+, the retail giant’s Amazon Prime “competition,” factors into the equation. It’s likely that Walmart will have early offers and some exclusive discounts for subscribers. Fortunately, Walmart+ offers a 15-day free trial.

Target’s ‘Deal Days’ event matches Prime Day’s dates and will offer shoppers “double the deals compared to last year.” As with Amazon Prime Day, Target will offer “early-bird deals” ahead of ‘Deal Days’ plus exclusive discounts for Target Circle members.

Best Buy has historically offered discounts during Prime Day and this year will be no different. During the sale, Best Buy will sell laptops starting as low as $120, JBL Free true wireless headphones for $60, and a Samsung 70-inch 4K smart TV for $530. Of course, Best Buy will reveal more as we get closer to the event. Shoppers, however, can expect to see discounts on Apple devices, laptops, big-screen TVs, and kitchen appliances during their competing Prime Day sale.

Best Buy, like Target and Walmart, price matches many of Amazon’s discounts, with or without a formal event announcement. We’ll be covering the best deals from these retailers, plus other notable stores and companies, during Prime Day, just as we do during the rest of the year.

Walmart, Target, and Best Buy will offer sales with competitive pricing during and around the event. However, the volume and quality of these competitor deals are up in the air, as the postponement of Prime Day 2020 has left us very close to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

How will this Prime Day be different from years past?

With Prime Day happening so close to Black Friday this year, competing sales and the number of overall deals will most likely be fewer in number.

Rival retailers may do as little as match Amazon’s discounts on Amazon products, like Kindles and Echo speakers, and a few high-demand products, like Sony headphones or gaming consoles.

The larger ripple we expect to see this Amazon Prime Day is less available stock and potentially delayed shipping. Shipping speeds often take a hit during these high-traffic events, and we expect it to be worse than in years past.

With supply chains still not back up to snuff since prior to the pandemic, high-demand items like webcams, home office furniture, brand-name hand sanitizers, workout equipment, sewing machines, and the like will probably run out quickly, if they’re in stock at all.

How do I prepare for Amazon Prime Day?

During Amazon Prime Day, there are a few steps you can take to get the most out of the big shopping event.

  1. Make sure you’re an Amazon Prime member.
  2. Download the Amazon app.
  3. Make sure your payment methods are up-to-date.
  4. Create a shopping plan and narrow down what you want to buy.

If one of the products on your wish list didn’t receive a discount during Prime Day — don’t immediately surrender to the retail price. In a little more than a month after Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday may offer the discount you were hoping for.

Which is better for deals: Prime Day or Black Friday?

2020 has been an unprecedented year for deals events, so making solid predictions based on past years is somewhat difficult.

We could speculate for days whether or not retailers will be able to offer equally jaw-dropping prices as past years, but with the delays in supply chains and shipping, and demand increases, prices this year between either Prime Day or Black Friday may not be as great as in past years (if there’s even enough stock).
